Growing roses in containers is easy as long as basic steps are followed. It is probably best to plant your rose as a bare root, and choose a large container. this will give the root plenty space to grow and mean that you will not have to transplant very often. Roses in containers can hold their water better and survive winter more easily.
Make sure to use only good quality soil – available from a garden center. At the bottom you can use an organic materials, such as bark, to help with drainage. Make a hole in the center of the pot,and set the plant in, making sure that the root is covered but not the stem. The best time to transplant is in the autumn or spring.
Don’t forget that one of the main advantages of container roses is the ability to move them around your garden, to look for the best sun or to show them off to full advantage when they bloom.
